Gems Emporium slated for March

THE 47th Gems Emporium will be held in Yangon from March 8-20 at the Myanmar Convention Centre, a Ministry of Mining spokesperson said last week.
The event will see numerous jade, gems and pearl lots go under the hammer via tenders and auction.
“Every year the ministry holds a number of gem emporiums, usually two or three, in February, June and December. I don’t think there will be any extraordinary items at this auction,” he said.
Union of Myanmar Economic Holdings Limited (UMEHL), which owns 15 mines in Mogok, Mineshu at Kachin State, will collect its gems from those mines to show at this emporium, said Captain Kyaw Min Naing.
“UMEHL also holds gems shows by itself but we are planning to sell our gems and jades at this emporium,” he said.
