TWO thousand and two hundred square feet split over two floors of freshly redecorated space for K90 million sounds like a pretty hot deal.
But there’s a hitch; it’s in Hlaing township, just off Bayintnaung Road and inside the Shwe Sabae Yeik Mon housing project. That equates to a 30-minute drive from downtown in typical traffic.
On the plus side, there is a small laneway between it and the next apartment block, meaning it should get lots of light and ventilation. Like all the other blocks in the complex it’s only four storeys high.
The lower level covers about 1200 square feet and has two bedrooms, freshly white-painted walls, new ornate lighting and tiled flooring. The simple layout means that the ensuite master bedroom and single sit directly alongside the living room, with the kitchen and a bathroom at the back of the block.
The bathroom is unremarkable, while the kitchen is reasonably well equipped with bench and storage space, if slightly cramped.
Upstairs is basically one large room that could be used for any number purposes; there is also a bathroom alongside. The flooring is wooden planking and the walls are lime green in colour, while the ceiling is white.
It benefits from having a wide sliding door at one end and windows almost the whole way around, which would likely make it pleasant at night time. It’s ringed by a tiled walkway and also has a big balcony to hang clothes, sit pot plants or even put in a swing to really enjoy the nightly breeze.
The apartment includes two air-conditioners, one telephone line, a single electricity meter and water comes from an overhead tank.
Tenants must pay K2000 per month for rubbish collection and security fees.
