Taw Win seeks low-cost housing site
August 9 - 15, 2010
ONE of Yangon’s best-known building companies, Taw Win Family Construction, is planning to start a new low-cost housing project by late 2010, said U Ko Ko Htwe, the company’s chairman last week.
“We’re looking for project sites during this month at Insein, North Dagon or South Dagon townships. We’re ready to start working on the project as soon as we find a suitable destination and expect to begin work in November or December,” he said.
U Ko Ko Htwe said the company is looking to build about 2000 apartments in 20 high-rise blocks and is looking for a 5-acre block. He added that important considerations are good transportation nearby, access to a developing community and amenities like clinics, schools, hospitals and markets.
He said the company will sell the finished apartments for between K2 and K10 million.
Taw Win Family built several low-cost housing developments between 1995 and 1998, including Taw Win and Maha Myaing housing projects in North Dagon, and another 76 houses in Mandalay.
