Federation eyes ISOC membership

THE Myanmar Computer Federation (MCF) is in negotiations with the international non-profit Internet Society (ISOC) to become its official local chapter, U Nyein Oo, the secretary of Myanmar Computer Professional Association (MCPA), said on March 8.
The organisation was founded in 1992 to provide leadership in internet related standards, education, and policy.
MCPA President U Khun Oo said the federation would meet with ISOC to discuss membership terms some time after it holds its ICT exhibition from March 19 to 21.
He declined to provide further details, citing ongoing discussions, but said a public announcement would be made when membership was finalised.
ISOC was founded by Vint Cerf, widely regarded as the father of the internet, and now has more than 100 organisation and more than 20,000 individuals as members in more than 180 countries.
