An abundance of space at FMI City
CERTAINLY, space is not a problem in this house – once you get there. Over the Hlaing River, 45 minutes from downtown, there is a large one-storey house in a big compound waiting for someone ready to trade time for space. ...moreThree-wheeled tuk-tuk services postponed
A PLAN to offer local transfer services using three-wheeled tuk-tuks in Ngwe Saung has been postponed, said Dr Aung Htay Lin, the joint-secretary (1) of the Ngwe Saung Zone Hoteliers Association.
“The service, originally scheduled for the end of October, was postponed to the end of January 2010 because we’re still waiting to get permission from the local authorities. The new transportation service will be provided once permission has been attained,” said Dr Aung Htay Lin.
He said the association plans to purchase more than 10 tuk-tuks, which it will sell to hotels at the beach to provide transfer services for their guests. The tuk-tuks can be used to carry guests between the village and their hotels along the concrete road beyond the beach.
“The association plans to provide two or three tuk-tuks at the information counter in Ngwe Saung’s village and our plan to use tuk-tuks is aimed at making it easier for guests to get around,” Dr Aung Htay Lin said.
Local authorities have banned motorcycles from the beach proper with the aim of protecting holidaymakers from noise and danger, as well as maintaining the pristine beachfront environment.
“We have not yet decided transfer service rates,” Dr Aung Htay Lin said.
