AUTHORITIES in Nay Pyi Taw have threatened to blacklist commuter buses in the capital that repeatedly break the “rules and disciplines” of the local transport committee.
“We have introduced about 17 rules and disciplines for the buses to obey. If a bus breaks the rules three times, we are going to blacklist that bus and they will be banned from operating permanently. We discussed this officially at our meeting in the second week of July,” U Win Htein, chairman of Bus Lines Preservation Rules Committee (Local), said on July 21.
U Win Htein said the committee had already banned at least one bus from operating after following up a complaint letter received in June.
He said the letter was written by a person who was overcharged and treated rudely by a conductor while taking a local bus from Nay Pyi Taw railway station.
After investigating the complaint, the committee blacklisted the bus, he said.
U Win Htein also said that there are three local bus lines in Nay Pyi Taw: Shwe Myo Taw, which has about 100 buses; Arr Mann Thit, with about 80 buses; and Taung Nyo with 30 buses.
“We are planning to soon increase the number of buses and also introduce new routes for Nay Pyi Taw passengers,” he said.
