Solo art exhibition
Artist Than Myint Aung will hold his second solo exhibition “A portrait of serene Rakhine” at New Treasure Art Gallery, 84/A Than Lwin Street, Golden Hill Avenue, Golden Valley, Bahan township. The exhibition will include a number of oil paintings with a general theme showing the peaceful scenery of Rakhine State. The exhibition will run until February 20.
Group art exhibition
The Myanmar Traditional Artists and Artisans Organisation is holding a group art exhibition “Beauty of Truth” from January 22-27 at 187/192 East Wing, Bogyoke Market. Fourteen artists will participate in the exhibition, which mostly features pastoral scenes, portraits of Myanmar’s ethnic groups, markets in Shan State and Buddha images. Styles vary.
Avatar at Shae Sung cinema
The science-action film Avatar will screen at Shae Saung cinema until January 28. The film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez and is directed by James Cameron. The film is not showing in its 3D form.
May Than Nu cultural show
Actress May Than Nu has organised a show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her acting career. The show will feature a traditional Myanmar play and a traditional opera (anyeint). The event will take place at Hmyaw Sin Island at 6:30pm on January 30. Tickets are available at Uncle Sam (Dagon, Yankin Center, FMI) and make-up artist Khin San Win’s parlour at 259 (ground floor) on 35th Street (upper block).
