New Yangon gallery opens

D May, a new art gallery opened to the public on February 6. The gallery, located on the ground floor of 521 Merchants Street is currently holding an exhibition of work by 24 artists, in a variety of styles. The exhibition will run until February 20.

Lawn concert at Mya Yeik Nyo Hotel

In celebration of Valentines Day, singer Sai Sai, Ye Lay, Cyclone, Jaut Jat, Rock Star, A Thin Cho Swe and others will perform on the lawn at Mya Yeik Nyo Hotel on February 14. The event starts at 5pm. Tickets are K5000, available at Conqueror (La Pyaet Wun), Yankin, Dagon, FMI center, Nobody, Blue Corner, Capital, outlets of Orange supermarket and Blazon. The first 500 couples to arrive at the concert will be given a chocolate and rose.

‘Emotion 2010’ exhibition

Three female artists Sandy, Kyu Kyu and May Moe Thu will hold a group exhibition entitled “Emotion 2010” from February 10-14 at Lokanat gallery, 62 Pansodan Street, Yangon. The exhibition contains about 47 paintings of flowers in a contemporary style.

Book on monasteries published

An English-language version of the book Linear Composition of the Kon Baung Monasteries, written by architect Maung Shwe has been published. The book is rich in history and technical details on the monasteries built between 1752-1885, many of which still exist.
