600,000 unregistered motorbikes the in firing line
The number of unofficial motorbikes, unregistered motorcycles countrywide had 600,000, statistics from the Road Transport Department and the Customs Department show.
From December 2009 to February 2010, the number of motorbikes registered at the local authorities increased by more than 200,000, the statistics show.
But from April 1 the government says it will be clamping down on unregistered bikes by ramping up the fines, although the Pyi Myanmar Journal article does not say by how much.

Japanese investors put money into value-added pork
Japanese investors are scheduled to begin operating a pork processing factory using Japanese technology in Myanmar, said Dr Maung Maung Lay, secretary general of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).
“Japanese investors proposed this scheme at the meeting between UMFCCI and Japanese business delegation this month,” Dr Maung Maung Lay said.
“It is for the first time that Japanese investors have shown an interest in doing foreign direct investment (FDI) in the livestock and breeding field,” he added.
