Japanese film screening

The Japanese embassy will screen Musashino-High Voltage Towers at the embassy on May 27 and 28 at 2:30pm. Tickets are available from May 13 to the day of the screening from the embassy.

Myanmar Hip-Hop Day concert

Bo Bo Entertainment has organised a hip-hop concert to mark the unofficial Myanmar Hip-Hop Day on May 30. The concert at Mya Yeik Nyo Hotel, Bahan township, will feature up to 30 hip-hop singers including Sai Sai, Ye Lay, Kaung Myat, Yone Lay and others. A graffiti contest has also been organised. Call: 095036903 for details. Tickets are available at Nobody (Dagon, F.M.I, Yankin), Fashion Star (BAK, Shwe Bon Tha Road), Conqueror (La Pyae Wun), Capital, Giordano outlets and Orange supermarkets. The concert will start at 5:00pm and run until 11:00pm.

Art fundraiser

New Zero art gallery has organised a fundraising exhibition to raise money for their art courses. The exhibition will run from May 20 to 24 at the gallery on 54 Bo Yar Nyunt Street, Dagon township. Fifty contemporary works by 35 artists will be on sale at a discount. The gallery hopes to fund children’s art classes, including brushes, paint and paper with the money raised.

American choir to visit

The American Club in Yangon is hosting a performance by the Harlem Gospel Choir on May 21. The performance will start at 6pm at The American Club on 27 Malikha Road, Mayangone township. Tickets are free and can be collected from the American Centre gata on 14 Taw Win Street, Dagon township between 8am to 5pm. The Harlem Gospel Choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey. The group travels around the world, performs and raises funds for children’s charities.

Art Jetty gallery opens

Art Jetty, a new gallery has opened at SB(3), Aung Zaya Complex, Kanner Street, Ahlone township. The gallery is currently showing 40 paintings, mostly in watercolour.

U Nyan Shein’s art show

In respect for deceased artist U Nyan Shein (1925-2003), New Treasure art gallery has organised an exhibition that will run until June 14 at the gallery, on 84/A Than Lwin Street, Golden Hill Avenue, Golden Valley, Bahan township. The “Burma Culture Art Exhibition” features watercolour paintings.
