Photo contest
Business entrepreneurs in Mandalay are sponsoring a 2010 Academy Award Photo Contest, the theme of which is “The scenic splendours of Myanmar”. First prize is K300,000, second K200,000 and third K100,000. There will also be a best photo award of K600,000 offered by KTM drinking water. The company will use award-winning photos in their advertisements. Entries for the competition must be 8x12 to 10 x15 inches in size. No more than five entries. Film screenings
The Karate Kid is screening from July 16 at Shae Saung cinema in Yangon. The film stars Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith, in a remake of the classic 1980s film. Prince of Persia is still screening at Nay Pyi Daw cinema and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley and Gemma Arterton.
‘July Rain’ art exhibition
An art exhibition titled “July Rain” will be held at the Myanmar Traditional Artists and Artisans Organisation, East wing, Bogyoke market, Yangon from July 22 to 27.
MMPO organises acting course
The Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation (MMPO) is inviting applicants for an acting course. Forms are available at MMPO, Wingabar Road in Bahan township. Entries no later than July 23 to MMPO. The course will start on August 2.
