Comic film screening
A comic film about village life called Kyaut Thin Phone Twe Moe Htar Tae Eain (A Blackboard-roofed House) is screening at Thamada, Thwin and Mingalar cinemas until September 16.
Annual art competition
Tun Foundation Bank, in cooperation with the Myanmar Artists and Artisans Organisation, has announced its 4th annual art competition. Artists should send two paintings, no smaller than 3x4 feet or larger than 4x6 feet to the Tun Foundation Bank office, 53/61 Strand Road, Yangon. The submission period is from November 22 to 30. Entries will be judged by 10 artists drawn from Myanmar and abroad. Prizes include K3 million (1st), K2.5 million (2nd), K2 million (3rd), K1.5 million (4th) and six runner-up prizes of K1 million. There are no limits on style and theme.
Wedding fairs
Parkroyal Hotel in Yangon will hold a bridal fair on September 19 from 10am to 8pm. Models from Stars and Models International Agency will showcase the latest bridal gowns. Local designers will also open boutiques. Asia Plaza Hotel, in cooperation with Excellent Model Agency, will also host a bridal fair on October 2.
Lawkanat exhibition
Thirty artists will hold a group exhibition from September 19 to 25 at Lawkanat Gallery on the corner of Pansodan and Merchant streets, Yangon. The exhibition features a mix of painting styles, installations and performance art.
