Seafarers association launches website

THE Myanmar Overseas Seafarers Association (MOSA) has launched a website that will enable seamen around the world to contact their families and others in the industry, News Week reported on December 23, quoting a MOSA official

The report said the website – www.mosamyanmar.org – aims to improve the quality and ability of Myanmar seamen, to improve their knowledge, to encourage “warm relationships” between seamen and to help them find job openings.

The website also features information on MOSA and its activities, facts and figures on Myanmar seamen, a forum where they can express their feelings and an email service so they contact their families and other seamen, the report said.

“It will be of great use for our seamen,” a MOSA spokesperson said.

Young singers invited to perform on album

ASIA Power Entertainment is accepting applications from young singers interested in performing on the New Age & Love Group Song MTV music album, The Voice Weekly reported on December 20, quoting the organiser of the project, Ko Nay Zaw.

Successful applicants will not be paid for their performance on the album, which is slated for a February release, but Ko Nay Zaw said it could be an effective way of breaking into the industry.

“Some new singers and young people who are interested in singing give K500,000 or K600,000 to record one song,” he said. “That is why I am doing this project.”

Applicants must be aged between 17 and 27 and agree to abide by New Age Group rules. No deadline has been set and applicants must pay K5000, provide three photos and have the permission of the parents. Those interested can call (01) 396-417 or 09-2003370, the report said.
