Book on hotels to be translated

A PRIZEWINNING book on Myanmar hotels is to be translated into Japanese in order to attract Japanese tourists.
The book, Blooming Hotels in the Myanmar Tourism Garden, will be published by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. The author is the Deputy Tourism Minister Brigadier General Aye Myint Kyu, who writes under the penname U Chit Swe Myint.
At the fourth Thuta Swesone Literature Awards in 2007, U Chit Swe Myint won the socioeconomic section for Blooming Hotels in the Myanmar Tourism Garden, which describes the attractions of Myanmar’s leading hotels.
Myanmar Polestar Travels managing director U Kyaw Min Htin told The Myanmar Times last week that the company was working with its sister company, a Japanese school called Better Life Education and Career Supporting Centre (BLECSC), to translate the book into Japanese.
“We began the translation last October, and BLECSC is proofreading it,” he said.
U Kyaw Min Htin, who is also an executive committee member of the Myanmar Marketing Committee, said the Ministry of Tourism is aiming to publish the 200-page book before the start of the high tourist season in October. The initial print run will be 3000 copies.
“Japanese tourists constitute one of the largest markets in world tourism. Myanmar should provide more information to attract them,” he said.
