A TRAVEL company earlier this month launched the first pilgrimage packages to Israel and Jordan targeted at Myanmar’s Christian community.

Pilgrims will visit Jerusalem, the Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, the Lowlands – also known as Shfela – the Valley of Elah and other sacred sites on the packages, which range in length from eight to 14 days.

Top Deck International began offering the deals on August 1, managing director U Tun Tun Zaw said last week.
Tours require a minimum of two people and can include up to 10, he said.

“The tours include not only famous places in Israel but also Mount Nebo in Jordan,” he said.

The company offers an eight-day trip priced at K3.3 million (about US$3300) and a 12-day tour that includes other sites in Jordan, priced at K3.7 million.

Another package also includes an Egypt side trip that takes in the pyramids and sphinx at Giza and museums in Cairo. The 14-day trip is priced at K4 million.

The price includes all air fares, visa and D-form costs, meals, accommodation and transport, U Tun Tun Zaw said, adding that the tours did not include the cost of acquiring a passport.

“We can also add Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore side trips for travellers who want to visit those places on the way back from Israel,” he said.
