Thadingyut prisoner amnesty in pictures

President U Thein Sein’s announcement of an amnesty for 6359 prisoners may have been criticised in some quarters, but for many families October 12 was a day of joy as they were reunited with loved ones. Photographers from The Myanmar Times were on hand to capture the colour and emotion as almost 700 were released from Yangon’s Insein Prison on the full moon day of Thadingyut.
