Naum Bawi

‘Step by Step’ art exhibition
Fifteen artists including Kyi Kyi Than, Kyaw Linn, Aye Nyein Myint, Thaw Kah, Cho Cho Naing and Thein Than Oo are participating in the ‘Step by Step’ art exhibition at the Myanmar Traditional Artists and Artisans Organisation in Bogyoke Market from February 18 to 23.
Jazz concert
Franck Medioni, Ramon Lopez and Stephan Oliva will perform jazz music on February 19 at Alliance Française. The event will start at 6:30pm. Entry is free.
Hitchcock film screening
Alfred Hitchcock’s silent film The Lodger will screen at Alliance Française on February 20 at 6:30pm. The film will have musical accompaniment provided by jazz pianist Stephan Oliva. Entry is free.
Naw Nor concert
Rock singer Naw Nor will hold his second solo concert with his band Blaze on February 14 at Thuwanna Stadium. The singer’s concert last August, to promote his album Eaint Met Htae Kah Lu (My Dream Person) ended in crowd anger following a shorter than expected performance. Pyin Sa Gan, Straight Line and Nov 24 will also play at the concert. Tickets, available in advance at major Yangon shopping centres, are K7000 each and guarantee entry for two people. The concert starts at 2pm.
Advanced photography workshop
As part of the upcoming Yangon Photo Festival from February 24 to March 12, Alliance Française will be hosting an advanced photography workshop. Participants will be expected to choose a theme and develop a story. The best photo essay will win the Paris Match Award of €1000. To register, contact Didi on (01) 536-900 before February 19. The workshop is free of charge and is open to under 30s only. Interviews to select participants will take place on February 21 and 22.
Japanese film screening
The Japanese embassy will screen 5 Centimeters Per Second, directed by Makoto Shinkai, at the embassy’s Assembly Hall on February 24 and again on February 25 at 2:30pm. Tickets are available at the embassy from February 7 until the day of the screening.
Valentine’s Day hip-hop concert
Mya Yeik Nyo Hotel will host a Valentine’s Day hip-hop concert on February 14. Performers include Sai Sai, Ye Lay, Reason and Jauk Jack among others. Tickets are K5000, available at the gate. The beats start at 5pm.
