With technology leaping ahead all around us many in our profession think newspapers are doomed. Their problem is that they think that our business is only printing on dead trees, but our real business in the decade coming will be giving our readers class journalism and great judgment. That’s where we will win in Myanmar.
We are fortunate, indeed. While most of the Western world’s publishers grapple with declining advertising revenues, falling circulation and the migration of readers to free online news, The Myanmar Times will continue to expand in its second decade, as the nation continues to fall far short of its potential for printed products.
 
It has now grown into a large organisation occupying a three-storey building on Bo Aung Kyaw Street and employing more than 350 staff members. The newsroom is frequently visited by students from international schools in Yangon, trainees from other local journalism courses and journalists from other ASEAN countries.
