“When I became a doctor in 1976, I worked as a volunteer in foreign countries for the UN and I got a lot of experiences in election activities, as it was election time in Cambodia. These experiences I compiled for my book Phnom Penh Diary. I have written short and long novels, medical features and travelogues while I was working as a doctor. Then, in 1998, I applied for the position of correspondent for the Sankei Shimbun,”

“We have many competitors in the market. Since we set up this company 10 years ago, I have tried to establish our brand name in the market by emphasising the quality and reliability of our products,”

“Our business is overseas education services and the benefit we derive from billboard advertising may be low because of the high cost of learning abroad. But this way of advertising an inexpensive product can stimulate a lot of demand,”

“Advertisements printed on vinyl are very effective for branding products, this is why outdoor advertising is becoming more and more popular. It is one of the best weapons companies have in introducing new products to the market,”

“Most of the public libraries do not have the funds to buy publications that are on sale in stores. Instead of buying the books, they ask for donations. As a result, though there are many libraries and library associations in Myanmar, they cannot be regarded as potential markets by publisher,”

“For the copy paper market, I think, it will shrink in Myanmar in the near future. Most offices still use a lot of paper now but copy paper will be substituted for information technology sooner or later – although it may take some time,”

“All the Panasonic advertisements are assigned from the company’s Asia and Pacific Sales Office in Singapore. About 60pc of our yearly ads are directly designed by the Singapore office and the rest are made adjustable in relevant with the local atmosphere by our Yangon office. But most of our ads expenses annually are in the printing media,”
