AN INSTANT rice vermicelli manufacturer, Cho Cho Indus-try Limited, is now trying to increase its market share abroad and boost production, said U Ye Myat Htoo, the company’s marketing manager, last month.
“We have been exporting our products to Singapore since March this year, and now we are trying to earn some market share in China, Indonesia and the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Dubai,” he said.
The most likely target though is China, with several companies showing interest in Cho Cho’s vermicelli at trade shows.
“We are taking part in the CAEXPO and Guangzhou trade fairs to be held in China in October and we expect we can make some deals at the events,” he said.
“We’re also negotiating with companies from the Middle East to export our products and one of the Saudi companies is definitely interested in buying our products to sell not only in Saudi Arabia but also around the region,” he said.
Cho Cho Industry Limited, which was established in 2001, is producing Shin Shin brand instant rice noodle and vermicelli at the company’s factory in Hlaing Tharyar Industrial Zone (2), in Yangon.
He said that in Singapore’s marketplace, it’s the traditional Myanmar flavours that sell the best.
“Our mohinga-flavoured noodles are selling faster than any of our other flavours in Singapore because many Myanmar citizens working in Singapore prefer a traditional taste while they are abroad,” he said.
‘’Our products are available in many stores in different parts of Singapore and sell better in wards where there are many Myanmar people living,” he said.
