Lifestyles of the rich and famous

Ever wonder how Myanmar’s stars stay in top shape? Myanmar Times reporter Nuam Bawi caught up with Nay Toe and Thin Zar Wint Kyaw – who feature in our cover photo this week – and asked them how they stay healty, despite their hectic lifestyle.

Nay Toe

1. I think that, while we should always listen to the advice of health professionals, it’s not a good habit to take medicine every time we are a little sick. However, in some situations, it can be important to take medicine as a precautionary measure.

2. We can only work very well if we are in good health, so it’s important to take care of our health.

3. Always eat a proper breakfast, lunch and dinner – I only have small meals at dinner. And I drink a lot of water throughout the day.

4. I do exercise to keep my body fit, but not too much exercise.

5. I eat every kind of food but take care to only eat the right amount, the amount that is suitable for my body.

6. In the past, I used to drink alcohol but after I went to a meditation centre I decided not to drink anymore. I feel that it’s not good for my health. Although I still smoke, I am trying to replace my smoking habit by taking up sport.

7. As an actor, I spent many hours out in the sunlight and so have to take care of the sun’s rays on my skin. We should always use the skin care creams to keep our skin healthy.

8. Dancing is just a pastime for me.

9. When I have too much work, I feel really tired and get a lot of headaches. Whenever I feel like that I try to have good sleep for long time. As an actor, I spend a lot of time with other people but I sometimes try and get away from everyone else for an hour, an hour and a half. I find it helps to get rid of stress. And I also watch television to relax.

10. So this is my lifestyle. I hope by explaining about this, fans can see how I’m trying to be healthy, and maybe they can learn something from me. As an artist, staying healthy is important for my work.

Thin Zar Wint Kyaw

1. It’s so very important for everybody to stay healthy. For everyone, health should be just about the most important thing in their life. How can we function well if we aren’t healthy?

2. I don’t normally care too much about food – I mean, I eat whatever I want to eat, simple as that. But now I’ve got gastritis so I have to take care of my eating habits.

3. I always do exercise and I only work as much as my health and body allow me to. I often do stretching exercises and some aerobics for my health.

4. I eat a lot of vegetables because I think its good for my skin and my general health. And I also drink a lot of water, which is good for my skin also.

5. I try to stay away from spicy, salty and sweet foods as much as I can.

6. Alcohol is not good for our bodies, especially for our stomach. Not only that, alcohol can affect memory. There’s no benefits for our body from alcohol.

7. Meditation can help make us calm and also improve concentration. It is also a kind of breathing exercise, so it’s good for the heart as well. So I always do meditation whenever I get the chance.

8. I don’t go to dance classes – but I normally dance with music before I take a shower!

9. We need to rest to reduce stress. I try to go outside and get fresh air, and also listen to music to help beat stress.

10. We cannot buy our good health with money. Of course, money can help – we can get medicine when we are sick. But prevention is best medicine. We have to value our health and should take preventive measures to ensure we don’t catch any diseases.
