ANGEL artisan group will hold a Thingyan Eve festival in Karaweik Garden at Yangon’s Kandawgyi Park from April 8 to 12.

A spokesperson from the Angel artisan group, writer Thoon Nay Soe, said the group has organised a host of entertaining shows to make the festival enjoyable and attract strong crowds.

“There will be a series of small shows displaying the various ways of celebrating Thingyan, including traditional- and international-style events,” he said, adding that many stalls and showrooms will also be set up.

On the first day of the Thingyan eve festival, actors Yarzar Nay Win and Min Hein and actress Phyo Thiri Khit will perform a play called Ko Hip-hop and Maung Maung Punk. And on the last day of the art festival – just before Thingyan kicks off – hip-hop singers Yan Yan Chan, J Me, Ya Tha and Kyet Pha will put on a special show for revellers.

Ko Thoon Nay Soe said one of the aims of the festival was to help people relax before Water Festival.
