Pun Hlaing Golf Estate will open a country club by the end of November, a company spokesperson said last week.

He said the club will be launched on November 29 and will offer a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports, a restaurant and health-spa facilities for members.

The club is located on a 5-acre plot at Pun Hlaing Golf Estate and includes grass tennis courts, a large swimming pool and a number of leisure centres.

“We intend the club to be a second home for members,” the spokesperson said.

Two tennis courts and the swimming pool are already finished, while the Oasis Spa is quickly approaching completion.

The spa includes eight individual massage rooms set around private water gardens with a backdrop of waterfalls and should be completed within the next few months.

For those feeling peckish but still keen to keep an eye on the action, the Oasis Bistro restaurant overlooks the tennis courts and swimming pool.

And there is also a spacious new carpark at the main entrance, the spokesperson said.

Construction of a two-storey club house building, on an additional 2 acres of land, is underway and is expected to be finished by the end of 2010.

“Members can work out in the gymnasium or join an aerobic class in the spacious aerobics hall-cum-dance hall, after which they can relax in the luxury of separate male and female spas, or de-stress in the steam rooms and saunas at the club house.

“Showers and secure locker rooms will also be attached for the members’ convenience,” he said.

There will also be a lounge-cum-television-room, children’s recreation room, billiards room and movie projection room.

The spokesperson said members can use the above facilities free of charge.

He said membership applications will be accepted on the afternoon of November 29 and invited lifetime members of the golf club to join up first.
