Two men, one Buddhist and one Muslim, have been killed in Mandalay. The city has been placed under curfew after days of sporadic rioting and despite a heavy security presence, it is still riven with religious tension. Chief photographer Kaung Htet attended the two funerals on July 3.
A mob gathered near a central teashop in Mandalay on the night of July 1, after so far unconfirmed reports spread on social media that two Muslim shop owners had raped a Buddhist woman. The crowd thinned eventually, but several were injured and damage was done to property.
