The 67th Anniversary of Shan National Day

Thousands of members of the Shan community gathered at the headquarters of the Shan State Army-South and Restoration Council of Shan State in Loi Tai Leng on February 7th to mark the 67th Anniversary of Shan National Day. Lieutenant General Yawd Serk, Chairman of the SSA/RCSS, addressed the crowd following a military demonstration by SSA soldiers and the group's specialised commando unit.

The Dawn of a Nation

On November 13, 2010 National League for Democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was released from house arrest. Of the 21 preceding years, she had spent 15 under house arrest at her residence in Yangon. The Myanmar Times photographer Kaung Htet was there to capture the fervor that surrounded her highly-anticipated release.
