More missing piece from crashed aircraft located

The Aung Thu Kha fishing boat, which had been on a search and rescue mission for the Y-8F 200 Tatmadaw transport plane, reported yesterday that it had found something entangled in the underwater nets at about 8.15pm, according to the Commander-in-Chief’s office.

The piece is said to be the tail part of the plane and bears the serial no. 5820.

The transport plane had crashed about 7.5 miles in a 260 degree direction to the true west of Dawei horseshoe bay (North latitude 13 degree 31 minutes and east longitude 98 degree).

Following that report, a search was conducted by two Tatmadaw navy vessels on the site using a sonar device and Tatmadaw divers found a piece from the crashed aircraft in 35-meter deep water.

According to the Commander-in-Chief’s office the search operations will continue.
