94 prisoners in Rakhine State receive amnesty

A total of 94 prisoners – 62 Myanmar nationals, and 32 foreign nationals – were released yesterday morning from prisons in Rakhine State under a special presidential amnesty, according to the state correctional department’s list.

The department’s list reveals that 19 foreigners and 21 Myanmar nationals were released from the Sittwe prison, four foreigners and one Myanmar national from Buthidaung prison, 24 Myanmar nationals from Kyaukphyu prison, nine foreigners and 16 Myanmar nationals from Thandwe prison.

The President had granted amnesty to 186 Myanmar nationals and 73 foreign prisoners from various prisons in Myanmar to mark the occasion of the 21st Century Panglong Conference.
