Waso chinlone festival chair U Kyaw Nyunt said the annual festival will last for two months and 30 teams will play from 9am to midnight on alternate days.

“There will be players also from the US, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and Canada,” said U Kyaw Nyunt on May 13.

Each team pays an entrance fee of K3500. Although more than 2500 teams are registered to play, only 1800 teams were accepted due to a tight schedule, said U Htay Aung Kyaw, chief finance officer of the festival.

“We will also pay homage to 60 chinlone experts on the full moon day of Waso. We will offer a golden robe to the Mahamuni Pagoda,” he said.
