A SOFTWARE development company and an education centre have teamed
up to provide an on-the-job training program aimed at strengthening
professional development and creating employment opportunities
in the ICT sector.
The program will provide practical work skills and promote ICT
literacy, said U Kyaw Moe Tun, director of Myanmar Information
Technology, which is collaborating with the Myanmar Professional
Education Centre to provide the training.
“Our training will offer a variety of formats, including
traditional classes and practical work with our senior workers
on a real programming project,” he said, adding that the
courses would also enable trainees to become familiar with an
ICT work environment.
U Kyaw Moe Tun said the centre would provide teaching staff
for the program.
The training, to be held at MIT, will be for three or six months,
and cost K50, 000 a month, he said. The first batch of about 15
trainees was selected late last month.
“All selected trainees will be treated as if they are
members of our staff,” said U Zaw Moe Tun. “They will
have to work our office hours and follow our organisation’s
rules and regulations; this will enable them to experience a real
working environment.”
Certificates would only be issued to those who completed their
assignments and adhered to the company’s rules and regulations,
he said.
The training meets a need for practical experience among those
with ICT qualifications who have been unable to find a job in
their field.
They include Ko Phyo who has completed international ICT diploma
and other certified courses. “I have applied for many IT
jobs but have not been successful because I do not have work experience,”
he said.
“Business organisations only select people with work experience
so I hope that taking this course will help me be appointed to
a suitable job in the future,” he said.
