THE embassy of the Republic of South Korea in Yangon has invited
Myanmar youths to apply for the 2007 Youth Camp for Asia’s
Future, which will be held in Seoul from July 31 to August 20.
According to a statement released by the embassy on April 27,
270 youths from 23 nations will be chosen to participate in the
camp, which will be hosted by the National Youth Commission of
Korea and organised by the National Council of Youth Organisations
in Korea.
Students must be proficient in English and aged between 17 and
24, the statement said, adding that priority will be given to
applicants who are currently studying or have studied Korean language
or culture, and who are knowledgeable about Myanmar traditional
and modern arts and culture.
The embassy in Yangon will select 10 candidates from Myanmar,
including two who are fluent in the Korean language. Return airfare,
food, lodging and transportation will be provided by the organiser.
The statement called on candidates to submit an application
form an essay on the topic of “Making a Contribution to
Asia’s Cultural Development” and a copy of their education
credentials to the embassy not later than May 23.
