“[Garment manufacturers] are steadily coming into Myanmar and many of them have transferred their operations into Myanmar from other countries in the region,”

The modified long term plan, which will cover the period from 2007 to 2020, will include projects to upgrade and improve transportation infrastructure, mass transit systems, electricity supplies, water supplies and sanitation, seaport development and town planning, and will also promote the city as a tourist destination.

Dr Tin Tun Oo, the owner of Swesone Media Group, said at the ceremony that they had decided to give awards every year for three reasons: to help improve Myanmar literature, spread knowledge among the people and support those authors who were writing knowledge-giving books.
