“We can’t say that trading in the private sector is declining. The (government’s) rise is mainly due to stronger exports of natural gas,” said Dr Maung Aung, an economist with the Economic Studies and Research Centre, under the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).

“Of these rivers and creeks, the ministry has already conducted surveying work at the Sai Thin Creek and estimated its electricity output would be 76 megawatts,”

“Currently, one tonne of cow hide costs $660 and a tonne of goat hide is $450. This is a little low. We will increase the price to $700 for cow hide and $500 for goat hide,”

“There are now more than 200 members in the association,” he said. “We only accept serious cultivors as members.”

“Many developers still don’t know how dangerous it is and don’t pay any attention to it (water damage). When they mix concrete, sometimes the ratio is wrong and when the building is finished it leaks and people have to put up with dripping water,”

“The same model of Chinese-made N93i smartphones, which are imported illegally, can be found at Yangon’s handset dealers for K200,000 less than the registered selling price,”

HOUSE OF THE WEEK
Those who cringe at the thought may be pleasantly surprised though by the cool inside, where walls are a more neutral pale yellow. Dark tinted windows – with bars – provide protection from the sun and potential intruders.

“Children make much more of an effort when they have a goal, so creating art for this show helped them develop their ideas and skills, and vastly improved their ability to make art,”

REGULAR electricity supplies later this year will depend on adequate water in the dams and reservoirs supplying 11 hydropower stations which generate 48 percent of Myanmar’s total output, officials from the Ministry of Electric Power (2) said last week.

Like many ancient structures in Bagan, Gubyaukgyi has suffered from the ravages of time, sustaining damage from earthquakes and from unscrupulous individuals who have stolen priceless artworks from the temple.

Sit back and escape the weather at a screening of Shooter at Nay Pyi Daw cinema. Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) and starring Mark Wahlberg, Micheal Pena, Danny Glover and Kate Mara, this action-packed thriller will have you teetering on the edge of your seat.

“In the past, sales were up during the summer and on special days such as holidays, but now all our branches are crowded throughout the year,” said Ko Win Kyaw Myint, sales manager at Moon Bakery’s Olympic Tower outlet.
