New private business school opens in Yangon

By Minh Zaw

A LOCAL private education group has launched a school in Yangon called the Regent Business Academy that will offer diploma programs in international business.

The director of the school, Mr Kevin Wang, said the faculty consisted of teachers who had graduated from business schools in England, South Korea, Ireland and Australia.

“We want to allow students to get an international business education in a local context,” he said at the launch ceremony held at Parkroyal Hotel in Yangon on July 21.

Five teachers will lead classes on a variety of subjects, including principles of management, economics, business commu-nication, organisational and business structures, principles of quantitative methods, funda-mentals of financial control, e-commerce and marketing.

“We want to provide international-level exposure to Myanmar students,” said Mr Wang. “We will use a student-centred teaching approach and supplement the lessons with access to the internet.”
