Quality at a low price: it’s time to go tailormade

The best way to update your look is tailormade clothing. Tailors cater to your own needs for a quarter of what you would pay for readymade clothes. Charlotte Wang and May Oo Moe hit the streets of Yangon to find the best tailors in town.

SINCE 1989 local designer Latt Latt has been famous for her celebrity customers, knockout fashion shows and creative flair. Actresses such as Tun Eaindra Bo, Thet Mon Myint and Aye Myat Thu are frequenters of her boutique, a snug little store that also sells shoes, trinkets, scarves and cosmetics.

Specialising in formal events, Latt Latt can fit evening dresses, traditional outfits, bridal gowns and flower maidens' garb, along with casual daywear.

What sets Latt Latt apart from the rest is her personalised service and her ability to incorporate the customer’s personality into her gown.

Tickets to her annual fashion shows run out quickly, and she is known to impress guests with the wide range of materials she uses in her haute couture line, such as acrylic paint, sequins, beads and other imported trim.

Ph 245584, 245501

Couple Ko Nyi Nyi Maung and Ma Thida Tun own this well-known tailoring fortress.

Famous for their reproductions of any catalogue outfit and their keen aptitude for creating new designs, their business has acquired its status through word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied customers.

Another perk that keeps regulars coming back for more is their expansive collection of imported fabrics from Japan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Most outfits take a standard two weeks but a 24-hour express service is available for those in a rush. Depending on the fabric and design, prices range from K35,000 to K80,000.
