MRCS increases life member fee

By Phyu Lin Wai

THE Myanmar Red Cross Society has increased its life member fee from K600 to K1000 following its 61st Central Council Meeting last month. However, other member fees – including for ordinary members, school Red Cross members and Red Cross brigade members – remain at K20.

The society recruited more than 8000 life members, 70 ordinary members, 105 school Red Cross members and 105 Red Cross brigade members throughout the country from January to June this year.

Member fees are not the main source of funds for the society. MRCS received more than K11.7 million from its printing business, materials shop, ambulance hiring and apartment rentals from January to June.

The society plans to upgrade its apartments on Sule Pagoda and Bogalay Market streets and build a factory to produce rehydration salts in South Dagon township.
