MALAYSIA Airlines is offering reduced airfares for its Yangon-Kuala
Lumpur route to mark Visit Malaysia Year 2007.
“We are offering return fare for US$200, down from the
normal charge of $220 each way, until December 31 this year”
said Ma Sanda, the reservation ticketing officer at the Yangon
branch office of Malaysia Airlines.
“The special fares are ideal for people who want to visit
Malaysia for shopping or for spending a holiday,” she said.
The return flight must be made within one week of the outbound
flight, she said.
However, she added that the fare deal is not valid for people
who only want to buy airline tickets.
“To get the special airfare, travellers must also make
hotel reservations through us for at least two or three nights,”
she said, adding that reservations must be made in person at the
office, which is located in Central Hotel in downtown Yangon.
“We do not accept online reservations through the Yangon
office at the moment but we might start by the end of this year,”
Ma Sanda said.
Malaysia Airlines is one of only two airlines offering direct
flights between Yangon and Kuala Lumpur. The other is Myanmar
Airways International.
Malaysia Airlines offers flights on the route daily except Tuesdays
and Thursdays.
Meanwhile, the main office of Malaysia Airlines offered “super
low” airfares for tickets booked online last week for travel
between January and May 2008, AFP reported on August 13.
Fares were offered at up to 75 percent off to all destinations
except Australia.
The “super low” airfare program was not valid in Yangon
due to the lack of online booking services.
