A
NEW generation of Yangon hipsters sauntered down the catwalk in
their own rainy day fashions on August 11 at the new Ocean Super
Centre, all competing for the title of Top Model.
Boys and girls aged 8 to 12, strutted their stuff in front of
three judges, hoping to secure a place with talent agency Talents
and Models.
It was the final day after three days of shows in July and August
to find the perfect child model.
Thirty finalists were selected from the three shows around Yangon.
“All of the contestants were perfect in their own ways,”
said Ma Thuzar, marketing executive for Talents and Models. “They
had their own ideas and styles. Everyone looked so cute with their
colourful outfits.”
The finalists were asked to put together their own outfits relating
to the theme, rainy days. Ma Eay Nyein Phyu came in first place,
Ma Jue Jue Kay Thar in second and Ma Shumawa was awarded third-prize.
Ma
Eay Nyein Phyu chose to represent her school with her uniform
colours, green and white, and Ma Jue Jue Kay Thar brightened up
the day with her favourite colour, vibrant orange.
All of the winners are 12 years old.
“The final three deserved to win,” said Ma Thuzar.
“They stood out from the rest in terms of their bubbly personalities,
fashion sense and confidence.”
Before the show started dancers from Talents and Models entertained
the audience with some fun hip-hop routines.
Appeton, D2 and San Yin Watches were the three main sponsors
of the day, all from North Point Shopping Centre in Mayangone
township where the event was held.
