WORK on a water pumping station in Mayangone township that will
increase water supplies to Yangon city by almost 15 percent is
expected to finish by the end of the year, the Yangon City Development
Committee announced in its daily newspaper The City News. The
YCDC’s expansion of the Yegu Water Pumping Station includes
the construction of a 153,600-cubic-foot reservoir and the installation

residential areas. Five water pumping stations in Yangon currently
have the capacity to supply the city with up to 140 million gallons
