YANGON’s Gitameit school had the pleasure of introducing
Yangon audiences to Austrian orchestra conductor Goesta Mueller
on August 17 during the opening celebrations for their new location
inside the International Business Centre in Yankin township.
Titled “The Conductor’s Art,” the concert
was presented by the Gitameit TKBC Myoma string ensemble and singers.
Mr Mueller is a faculty member of the Innsbruck Conservatoire
in Innsbruck, Austria, where conducts various orchestras, teaches
the keyboard and baroque music and plays double bass in their
jazz band.
He also taught and conducted at Mahidol University from 2001
to 2004 in Thailand.
Since 2005, Mr Mueller has visited Myanmar five times to work
with young Myanmar musicians.
“I’m so pleased with the musicians’ development.
They are fast learners,” said Mr Mueller.
Director of Gitameit U Moe Naing said he was happy to have Mr
Mueller conduct his orchestra finally.
“In accordance with the name Gitmeit, which means musical
friends, we warmly welcome talented musicians to join us,”
he said. “We have invited Mr Mueller to give us a new take
on how we conduct music.
“It has been so successful that we will try to present
more shows like this one in the future,” said U Moe Naing.
