THIS unusual home is, out of necessity, seeking an equally unique buyer.

There is nothing quite like this quirky two-bedroom, arched-roof bungalow on the Yangon market, which has more hits and more misses that many townships in their entirety.

The biggest marketing faux pas – or perhaps most enticing feature – is the large camouflage roof curling down over the walls. But while certainly bizarre, its khaki greens and patches of brown actually work quite nicely with the earthy-red brick walls and, after a bit of getting used to, it is far more likely to provoke a smile than a frown.

A covered walkway leads visitors on a loop up some stairs to the front door – a fitting way to approach such a novel building. This catwalk allows tenants an easy breather outdoors and a place to watch the sunset or kids playing in the eclectic front yard, which is complete with an array of plaster animals, small swimming pool and tree-stump furniture.

The house itself takes up 1225-square-feet of the 6400sqft compound and includes an open parking area beneath the front door (currently being shared with a dining suite, of course). There is a small outdoors kitchen under cover behind the house with gas stove, basin and refrigerator.

Connected to the open area beneath the house is an enclosed living room with access to a bathroom and toilet, making it ideal for overnight guests.

Another living room upstairs on the home’s main level serves as the heart of this intimate family home. It has a high, arching ceiling, a wide floral mural streaking across the upper part of one wall, and four red lights hanging among others from the ceiling.

An “attic” with a storage room and space for an altar overlooks the lounge.
There is one single bedroom and one master bedroom.

A well-lit kitchen at the rear of the house has a back door with staircase leading outside, although there is no dedicated dining space.

The property is one of the most fun homes likely to come on the market in a long time and is well-suited to a creative couple with a young family.

No air conditioners have been installed and the home does not currently have a phone line. Basic furniture can be included in the sale upon negotiation.
