By Zaw Winn

THE Myanmar Marketing Committee (MMC) under the Myanmar Tourism Promotion Board will participate in the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) World Travel Fair 2007 from September 13 to 16 in Tokyo.

Daw Khine Wai Thwe, the public relations manager at MMC, said local representatives from seven travel agencies, two airlines and one hotel would participate in the fair to promote Myanmar as a tourist destination in the Japanese market.

“Our prime objective is to let the Japanese people know better about Myanmar tourist destinations,” she said.

The participating airline companies are Myanmar Airways International and Air Bagan, while the lone hotel is Hotel Nikko Royal Lake.

The seven travel agencies are Tour Mandalay, Peace Smile Land Travels and Tours, SM Tours and Transport, Shan Yoma Travels and Tours, Myanmar Polestar, Sai Travel Service and Myanmar Nare-Apex Travels and Tours.

JATA is aimed at improving the quality of services provided to travelers to and from Japan by disseminating information, encouraging cooperation among members and promoting the development of businesses and legislation that will benefit the membership and the industry at large.
