AIRFARES for local passengers on domestic airlines in Myanmar have been raised, effective September 1, an airline representative said.

“Fares for locals have been raised by 30 percent,” a spokesperson from a domestic airline said last week.

The price increase affects all domestic routes on Air Mandalay, Air Bagan and Yangon Airways, including Yangon-Mandalay (now K65,000 one way), Yangon-Nyaung U (K53,000), Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw (K45,000), Yangon-Heho (K53,000), Yangon-Sittwe (K80,000), Yangon-Thandwe (K65,000), Yangon-Tachileik (K112,000), Yangon-Kengtong (K112,000), Yangon-Dawei (K52,000), Yangon-Myeik (79,000) and Yangon-Kawthoung (K112,000).

The spokesperson said the price of flights for foreign passengers was also expected to be raised by October.
