PARAMI bus line under the management of Bandoola Transportation
Service is currently providing service on a new route in Yangon
on a trial basis, said an official from the company.
The test route starts from Parami bus terminal in South Okkalapa
township and proceeds in a circuit around the city, passing Bayli
Bridge, Thingangyun, Tarmwe, Mingalar Taung Nyunt, Strand Road,
Ahlone, Kyeemyindaing, Bayint Naung, Insein, 8-mile junction and
Kaba Aye pagoda Road before returning to Parami terminal.
“We are testing this second special bus line with five
buses. We have already been running our first special route in
downtown areas. The new one will run through the town in circular
order,” said Colonel Myo Myint (retired), the managing director
of the company.
The fare for the new route is K200 and is run using air-conditioned
buses with 40 to 45 seats. No standing passengers are allowed.
The first special bus line has been running with 18 buses since
August 1, with plans to use 20 buses for the second line when
it is officially launched.
Meanwhile, fares on Parami buses were reduced on September 1,
said Col Myo Myint (ret).
“We temporarily changed bus fares to K100, K150, K200
and K250 in the middle of August. Starting from September 1, we
reduced them to K50, K100, K150 and K200,” he said.
Parami runs 370 buses on 15 routes in Yangon daily.
Fares for Parami taxis were also changed on September 1, he said.
“The initial fee is K500, which is the same as before.
For each mile travelled the passenger will have to pay K150 instead
of the previous K100. The idling fee is K50 a minute,” he
said.
Currently, 98 Parami taxis are running in Yangon.
