Heavy rain failed to keep Myanmar off their game as they notched
up three goals in the first half to beat Singapore 3-0 on the
first day of the eight-nation Southeast Asian tournament running
until September 15.
Winger Aye Nandar Hlaing put Myanmar on the scoresheet in the
14th minute and star striker Zin Mar Wann added two more before
the rain– which started in the opening ceremony during Zaw
Win Htut’s rendition of a national unity song – flooded
the pitch.
Myanmar, playing a 4-4-2 formation, dominated the game which
despite the mud was a relatively clean affair with Thai referee
Semasek Praew keeping her yellow cards tucked away the entire
match.
Myanmar played Group B rivals Laos on Saturday and face Thailand
in their last group match on Monday at 3:30pm. MRTV is screening

Defending champions Vietnam are widely tipped to emerge top
of Group A over Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Semifinals will be played on Thursday and many punters are tipping
a Myanmar-Vietnam final this coming Saturday.
