WITH its vanilla white walls and so much frilly, boysenberry-coloured
skirting, this five-bedroom home in Hlaing township bears a strange
resemblance to a giant wedding cake.
Unfortunately, the property is more delicious at first glance
than upon closer inspection. While the 4900-square-foot compound
is relatively barren, the over-the-top house decorations run the
risk of becoming a little sickly fast – such as during the
first visit.
However, if you can see past the trim and don’t mind large
neighbouring homes overlooking your property, then a, well, pretty
standard interior awaits.
There is nothing wrong with the inside and liberal use of hardwearing
teak suggests a sturdy home, but there is nothing particularly
outstanding either and residents will need to think hard how they
can add their personal touch to the home.
Part of the Aye Yeik Mon housing estate, the house has been
vacant since it was built three years ago.
Nonetheless, all the basics are here. There is a single, internal
access garage, above which is an attic that could serve as a staff
quarters. A common toilet is located at the rear of the house.
There is a dining room fit for five, a comfortable kitchen with
marble benchtops and a built-in gas stove and electric elements,
and all five bedrooms have their own bathrooms.
Four of those rooms are upstairs, as well as an altar room.
Only one bedroom, however, can be considered a true double and
most rooms in the house are relatively small.
There are two balconies, located on the front corners of the
house.
Five air conditioners and a phone line are included in the sale.
