THE crowd wasn’t young but that didn’t stop them from letting their hair down and causing an uproar at Emperor’s concert on September 15.

The concert, held at the Sedona Hotel, featured rock and roll legend Zaw Win Htut and actress-cum-vocalist Htun Eindra Bo.

Mindon hall was filled to capacity for the night, with around 1,300 people, mainly loyal, middle-aged fans showing up.

Zaw Win Htut, in his trademark shirt and jeans, received a warm welcome from the audience, but his duet with Htun Eindra Bo became the highlight of the night, when she stole the spotlight in a stunning white suit and diamond necklace.

She went on to sing a number of slow, familiar love songs that had the crowd swaying in time to the beat.

After a quick shirt change, Zaw Win Htut came back onstage to take over from Htun Eindra Bo and gratefully collected a mass of flowers thrown onto the stage by his delighted fans.

With as much gusto as he could muster, Zaw Win Htut belted out his most famous song, “Gypsy Clouds”, to the delight of his female fans, who went wild as the heartthrob hit the high notes.

Htun Eidra Bo graced the stage one more time in a black suit and sang a second duet with Zaw Win Htut before performing her hit song “I’ll Go To Hollywood”.

Afterward, Zaw Win Htut invited a special person onto the stage, and his young daughter Chan Chan walked on to sing a new duet with her father.

He wrapped up the night with a performance shared by renowned DJ and hip-hopper Thax Soe. They played three blues songs together, remixed by the DJ himself. Then, a young violinist took to the stage to join the singer for the song that shot him to stardom, “Unparalleled” (A-Hnying Mae).

The night ended with bouquets of flowers thrown onto the stage at around 11pm. The audience milled around before reluctantly making their way back home.

Htun Eidra Bo will release two new albums soon — the first next month and the second one in January 2008.
