A BIG compound and equally large house set in the leafy suburbs of Bahan township make this a great rental for a growing family.

The many rooms ensure residents won’t get in each other’s way while accommodation for a housekeeper and long-term resident guard mean help is always on hand to take care of the 0.33-acre yard.

There is little privacy out back of the three-bedroom house, where a neighbouring block of flats towers over the fully-paved backyard, though a six-foot fence with razor wire running along the front of the property keeps the neatly trimmed lawn out of sight and securely away from passers-by on the street.

There are two living rooms on the ground floor, one of which connects to a single bedroom by way of a sliding wooden door. There is no other entrance to this bedroom, although an attached bathroom connects to the dining room at the rear of the house.

The second living room is a much more accommodating space for socialising, with two wide doors leading to the back of the property.

The ground floor also comprises a study and a kitchen and dining room in a distinct, single-storey part of the house. The kitchen accesses a double garage, at the back of which is a storage room.

Upstairs consists of two large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and balcony. One of the balconies is considerably larger and has stairs running down to an outside door off the dining room.

The house was built in the 1970s and can be a little dark, although the owner is currently doing some redecorating, including polishing the teak floors and adding some touches of paint, which should be finished by the end of this week.

Nine air conditioners and a phone line are included, with furniture available upon negotiation. Tenants are asked to sign on for at least a year.
