Beach gets bus service

By Zaw Winn

TREASURE Transportation has been offering regular shuttle bus service between Yangon and Ngwe Saung Beach starting October 2, said U Thura Win, the company’s transportation manager.

“We offered shuttle service for the first time last year on a 35-seat bus and this year we are using a 45-seat bus,” he said.

The bus will leave Yangon every Tuesday and Friday at 7:30am and Ngwe Saung every Sunday and Thursday at 10:00am, at a cost of US$45 per person each way.

“But the bus will only go to Ngwe Saung if we have at least two passengers,” said U Thura Win.

He said passengers to Ngwe Saung must make a reservation at least one day in advance by calling 255-023 or 255-024 in Yangon.

U Thura Win said that on October 2 the company also started offering bus service between Pathein Airport and Ngwe Saung every Tuesday and Saturday for $10 per person each way.

First promoted as a beach destination in 1999, Ngwe Saung now has 28 hotels, according to the Myanmar Hoteliers Association.
