Air Mandalay flights
DOMESTIC airline Air Mandalay will start daily service to Nay
Pyi Taw on Monday. Previously the airline offered flights to the
administrative capital on Mondays and Wednesdays but an increasing
number of passengers prompted the decision to go daily, an official
from the airline said last week. Air Mandalay is further spreading
its wings with the addition of flights to Dawei, Myeik and Kawthoung
starting today. The route will be flown Tuesdays, Fridays and
Sundays. One-way airfares for locals on the new flights are K45,000
for Nay Pyi Taw, K52,000 for Dawei, K79,000 for Myeik and K112,000
for Kawthoung. Fares for foreigners are FEC78 for Nay Pyi Taw,
FEC84 for Dawei, FEC99 for Myeik and FEC133 for Kawthoung. –

New CNG stations to open
MYANMA Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) said earlier this month
that it plans to increase access to compressed natural gas (CNG)
in Yangon Division in the near future by opening more stations
in areas not serviced by gas pipelines. An official from the enterprise
said satellite stations would be opened in some areas where access
to gas pipelines is not available and where it is not possible
to lay new pipelines. New satellite stations will be built in
Botahtaung and North Okkalapa townships, while petrol stations
in Tarmwe and Aung Sann townships will be converted to CNG stations.
Gas will be transported in trucks from the main station in Insein
township to the satellite stations, each of which will be equipped
with booster pumps and which will be able to supply gas to four
vehicles at the same time. According to MOGE, there are 31 CNG
stations in Yangon Division including those opened recently in
Ahlone township and Shwe Naung Pin near Hmawbi. More than 15,600
cars and buses have been converted into CNG-powered vehicles.
Meanwhile, the enterprise is also planning to install CNG-powered
generators at four fuel stations in Mandalay Divisions –
Hlaing Tharyar 2, Pyinmapin, East Dagon 2 and Paleik – so
they can continue supplying fuel during power outages.
