Rowers take on Asia’s best

By Thein Win Nyo

A MYANMAR rowing team set off from Yangon on Saturday for the 12th Asian Rowing Championship in Chung Ju, South Korea, from October 16 to 19.

“All the Asian teams will participate in the regatta,” said U Pe Win, general secretary of the Myanmar Rowing and Canoeing Federation.

The Myanmar team of eight is being accompanied by coaches Kyaw Win and Joerm Grosskopf of Germany, as well as federation vice president U Maung Win.

The team will enter eight events, six of which will feature at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Bangkok this December.

Myanmar last entered the Asian Rowing Championship in 1995.
