TAW Win Transportation Company has added new taxis to its Nay
Pyi Taw fleet and has started offering regular service in addition
to its on-call service, said Colonel Myo Myint (Retired), the
managing director at Bandoola Transportation Company, which manages
the taxi company.
“We used to have 15 on-call taxis in Nay Pyi Taw. Now
there are 20 taxis and five are running as ordinary taxis under
the name Taw Win Taxi,” he said.
He said fares for the taxis, which went into service on October
1, are the same as for tuk tuks.
“The taxis are now running on petrol but they will soon
be converted to compressed natural gas (CNG) power. Then fares
will be reduced and set like Parami taxis in Yangon,” he
said.
“When all 20 vehicles are converted to CNG they will all
run as ordinary taxis,” he said.
Meanwhile, Taw Win bus line on October 1 also launched a new
Nay Pyi Taw-Lewe-Tharwithti-Yaeni route served by four buses.
“We launched it because of the demand from people who
live in Yaeni and work in Nay Pyi Taw,” Col Myo Myint said.
Bus fares are K100 for each section with the whole trip of about
80 kilometres (50 miles) costing K600.
Taw Win already runs buses on Nay Pyi Taw-Taungoo and Nay Pyi
Taw-Tatkon routes.
